EUROFIMA provides new financing of EUR 61 million to SNCB
FINANCED AMOUNT
€ 60,900,000
EUROFIMA is pleased to announce the disbursement of new financing in the amount of EUR 60.9 million (12-years) with its Belgian shareholder SNCB. This deal affirms the commitment of EUROFIMA to support the development of the public rail services in Europe and to promote more sustainable and greener means of transportation.
EUROFIMA is disbursing this loan on May 22nd 2024, which is going to be used to refinance 30 Class M6 coaches, mainly utilised in the Belgium domestic market and in some cross-country services to and from Luxembourg. The coaches were originally financed in 2007 and 2008 as brand-new rolling stock and, at that time, they were equipped with the latest technology in terms of comfort and digitalisation.
Class M6 double deck cars were supplied from 2002 onwards by a consortium formed by Bombardier and Alstom. They improved passenger comfort and luggage space from Class M5, increasing the available height on the second level to 2 meters. Of the four types of M6 coaches, the first-class coach, standard class coach, and multifunction coach types are included in this transaction.
With this last transaction SNCB and EUROFIMA continue with their long term and successful partnership, having financed together more than EUR 9.8 billion since 1956.
