EUROFIMA is pleased to announce a new disbursement of EUR 4.5 million to BDZ Passengers EOOD (BDZ), the Bulgarian national passenger rail operator, as part of the framework agreement signed by both entities in April this year. This disbursement represents the second tranche under the agreement.

The second tranche was disbursed on 1 July 2026 with a tenor of 10 years. The financing supports the acquisition of 18 second-hand intercity passenger coaches previously operated in Germany, to be deployed in public rail services in Bulgaria.

The coaches are equipped with HVAC systems and have undergone successive modernisation programmes, including fully refurbished interiors and the installation of external passenger information systems (PIS). Each unit offers seating capacity for up to 80 passengers.

The transaction contributes to the renewal of BDZ’s rolling stock and supports the provision of reliable and efficient public transport services. It also advances EUROFIMA’s mandate to promote sustainable rail mobility and strengthen regional connectivity in its member countries.
