EUROFIMA provides EUR 12 million financing to Srbijavoz for six new electric locomotives
FINANCED AMOUNT
€ 12,000,000
Ten-year financing supports the renewal of international passenger services with multi-system locomotives certified for operation across Serbia, Hungary, Austria and Germany
EUROFIMA has provided Srbijavoz, the national passenger railway company of the Republic of Serbia, with EUR 12 million in financing. The ten-year financing represents the first tranche under a framework agreement supporting the acquisition of six new Siemens Vectron A17 multi-system electric locomotives.
The locomotives will be deployed on international rail services operated under a Public Service Obligation (PSO) contract. Certified for operation across Serbia, Hungary, Austria and Germany, they are designed to support seamless cross-border passenger services.
“International passenger rail depends on rolling stock that can operate seamlessly across borders. By providing long-term financing for these multi-system locomotives, EUROFIMA is supporting Srbijavoz in renewing its fleet while strengthening the basis for reliable cross-border passenger services between Serbia and the wider European rail network,” said Christoph Pasternak, CEO of EUROFIMA.
The Siemens Vectron A17 locomotives have a maximum power output of 6.4 MW and a top speed of 200 km/h. They are equipped with the globally established ETCS Level 2 onboard system, supporting interoperable operation on international passenger services.
Their multi-system capability and certification across four countries enable the locomotives to operate across different railway networks without changing traction units at borders, supporting more efficient and seamless international rail services.
The financing supports Srbijavoz in modernising passenger rail transport in Serbia and strengthening the foundations for the future development of international rail services.
The transaction reflects EUROFIMA’s mission to provide long-term financing for rolling-stock investment, contributing to stronger European connectivity while supporting the continued development of sustainable passenger rail transport.
